What Social Meals Means to Participants

These words were shared by seniors who attend our Social Meals program in Oliver and Osoyoos, collected as part of the Beem Foundation impact reporting. They speak, in their own words, to the connection, belonging, and wellbeing that a weekly shared meal creates.

“Thanks so much for this social gathering over delicious food. We truly appreciate the friends we’ve met … it has a positive influence on our mental health.”

- Social Meals participant

“As seniors who do not have a large social network, we enjoy the opportunity to gather with like-minded people over a tasty meal. We feel valued in our community when there is a focus on seniors.”

- Social Meals participant

“Without it, I wouldn’t know where to go. After my husband left, I got my freedom and could come make friends.”
