Roots of Empathy
Roots of Empathy help children develop empathy and emotional literacy in 12 countries, with research to prove impact. It is a leader in the empathy movement.
It is an effective program that has lasting results and research has demonstrated that Roots of Empathy children demonstrate an increase in prosocial behaviour, increase in caring classrooms, increased understanding of parenting and infants and a decrease in aggression.
This classroom program consists of 27 weekly classes with a Roots of Empathy instructor through the school year. At the core of the program is a neighbourhood baby and a parent who visits the classroom once very 3 weeks (9 times in total). The children sit around a green blanket and observe the baby and parent all the while learning about the baby’s growth and development. The baby is used as a vehicle to teach children about their own feelings and emotions.
