Empty Bowls Fundraiser

Paragraphs

The leaves are turning colour and frost is approaching which means the countdown to Christmas has begun! For many people in our communities, however, the weeks ahead don’t look bright. The stress of two years of the pandemic, plus skyrocketing costs of living, plus all kinds of family challenges are combining to put huge pressure on many local families. Each time we at Desert Sun think we’ve seen the peak of need, requests for support of all kinds keep climbing. We’re doing our best to meet our communities' needs in grassroots, meaningful, effective, and varied ways, but we need your help.

Last year, many generous donors supported Desert Sun’s second annual online fundraiser. Thanks to amazing support from you and a top-up of $25,000 from an anonymous donor, the Empty Bowls and Baskets fundraiser raised an amazing $87,000, every dollar of which stayed right here in our communities.

Contributions made a difference to critical but underfunded programs!

From November 1st to December 15th, we are running our third annual online Empty Bowls and Baskets fundraiser.

Our goal is to raise a total of $75,000. Every dollar raised will help keep key programs running that we aren’t able to fund via other sources. This fundraiser is the ultimate in ‘locals helping locals’: every dollar you commit will stay right here in Oliver, Osoyoos, and OK Falls, supporting kids, families, and hurting individuals in our communities.

We are already on our way! The anonymous donor who last year supported our Empty Bowls and Baskets fundraiser has agreed to contribute again if the community steps up as well! Please help you can choose whether you’d like to direct your funds to a specific Desert Sun program or whether you’d like us to direct your contribution to the area of greatest need.

Please know how much we value your heart for the community.
